"I was dealt with mercifully." —1 Timothy 1:16
Many people, even Christians, have deceived themselves. They have deformed their consciences to the point that they are callously and sincerely unaware of committing any sins. Then after years of living out of touch with reality, the Lord finally breaks through in their lives. They become aware that they have been living in sin for years. They fearfully and humbly recognize themselves as blasphemers, persecutors, and people filled with arrogance (1 Tm 1:13). They are understandably shocked by the enormity and perversity of their years of sin. After years of thinking they have committed no sins, they realize they have committed so many sins that they wonder if there is any hope for them.
"You can depend on this as worthy of full acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" (1 Tm 1:15). Because the Lord had mercy on Paul, the worst of sinners (1 Tm 1:15), we can be sure that He has mercy on everyone. Jesus' blood will wash away the sins of anyone who repents — no matter what sins he has committed. Therefore, thank the Lord for a guilty conscience leading to repentance, mercy, a clear conscience, and life everlasting.
Prayer: Father, I will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation as soon as possible and frequently thereafter. Thank You!

Praise: John preached: "There is nothing colder than a Christian who does not seek to save others...Do not insult God...It is easier for the sun not to give warmth or shine than for the Christian not to shed his light."
