hell says "no" to heaven
"They throw down their crowns before the throne." —Revelation 4:10
Everyone in hell wants to "get the hell out of there," but nobody in hell wants to go to heaven. They would find heaven not to their liking. When we look through the open door to heaven (Rv 4:1), the first thing we see is a throne on which sits "One Whose appearance had a gemlike sparkle as of jasper and carnelian" (Rv 4:2-3). In heaven, everything is focused on God. A rainbow as brilliant as emerald is around His throne (Rv 4:3). Twenty-four elders, representing the Old and New Testaments, also surround God's throne (Rv 4:4). Before God's throne burn "seven flaming torches, the seven spirits of God" (Rv 4:5). "At the very center, around the throne itself, stood four living creatures," representing all angels and all creation (Rv 4:6). In heaven, everyone is centered on God enthroned. "Day and night, without pause" all in heaven sing praises to God (Rv 4:8). There is no ego, pride, or selfishness in heaven. God is the Center of attraction.
Would you be willing to dethrone yourself and forget about yourself? Then you would probably like heaven, for heaven is heavenly only for the humble and the unselfish.
Prayer: Father, may I deny myself (Lk 9:23) and like heaven.
Promise: "O Lord our God, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power! For You have created all things; by Your will they came to be and were made!" —Rv 4:11
Praise: St. Cecilia was instrumental in the conversion of her husband and brother-in-law. All three gave witness to Jesus by dying as martyrs for their faith.
