how can we get enough?

"His disciples said to Him, 'How could we ever get enough bread in this deserted spot to satisfy such a crowd?' " —Matthew 15:33

We often ask Jesus: "How can we ever get enough" time, energy, money, or resources to save the lives of pre-born babies, make disciples of all nations (Mt 28:19), feed the starving, restore family life, heal the brokenhearted, or even pay the bills? Our needs seem much greater than our resources.

The Lord answers our question about our insufficiency by asking us the question: "How many loaves of bread do you have?" (Mt 15:34) Jesus is not concerned about what we do not have but about what we do have. If we give it all to Him, He will multiply it to provide for ourselves and others all that is needed. Our insufficiency will always be made sufficient as long as we give all our insufficiency to Jesus. At first, it would seem easy to give away what is already lacking. However, those who have little can be the most miserly and selfish. Only by God's grace and love are we freed to give all to the One Who gave all to us, even to death on the cross. Motivated by love, give your insufficiency to be the making of a multiplication-miracle of bounty and fullness.
